Well, the Q1 of 2017 is over and another Quarter awaits us, before that we will take a look at what all happened in the last week of Q1. Samsung announced the much awaited Galaxy S8 and S8+, Micromax announced their first Dual camera smartphone, the Dual 5. Here is the list of important news and updates from the week.

The Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch display and S8+ with a 6.2-inch display. Both the smartphones are having bezel-less super AMOLED panel up front. They come with a 12MP rear camera with dual pixel sensor with an aperture of f/1.7 and support for OIS.  It comes with company’s own virtual and voice assistant, Bixby. It can recognise images in the camera app, photo gallery, and web photos when using the Samsung browser. Click here to know more about these devices.

Micromax launched  Dual 5 with a dual 13MP rear camera, the device comes with a security system which comes with an independent high-grade security chip that offers hardware-level security.  it sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution, it is powered by Snapdragon 652 processor, it has a 3200mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. It is running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Panasonic Eluga Ray Max and Ray XThese 2 smartphones from Panasonic comes with built-in Virtual Assistant called Arbo, which is a self-learning technology that understands the user behaviour and then maps their daily activities for them accordingly. It recognises the places often visited by the user, it takes care of all the daily tasks and activities like calls and messages that need to be framed and sent out on a regular basis. Eluga Ray Max and Eluga Ray X available exclusively from Flipkart for INR 11,499 for the 32GB variant, INR 12,499 for 64GB variant and INR Eluga Ray X 8,999. ACT 1GBPS Wired Broadband Internet Service

ACT announced 1Gbps (Giga speeds) wired broadband internet service for the city of Hyderabad. ACT Fibernet’s 1 Gbps wired internet service is slated to soon be available in the 11 cities. The GIGA plan is currently available in Hyderabad for INR 5999 per month with 1TB FUP. Post FUP speed is 10Mbps. Read more..

Jio Prime Deadline Extension

Probably the best news for Indian readers, Jio announced that they are extending the deadline to avail Jio Prime membership till 15th of April and also Introduced Jio Summer Surprise. Every JIO PRIME member, when they make their first paid recharge prior to 15th April using Jio’s Rs 303 plan (or any higher value plan), will get services for the initial 3 months on a complimentary basis. The amount paid before 15th will be used for in July, after the completion of complimentary service.
