With Mothers Day round the corner Avon organized its Stars Convention 2014 on 10th May 2014. In honor of women’s month, Avon thanked and recognized women who have stood up for themselves in the world of business. Avon is a company that stands for beauty, innovation, optimism and above all for women.
David H. McConnell didn’t originally intend to create a beauty company. A traveling book salesman, he founded Avon in 1886 after realizing his female customers were far more interested in the free perfume samples he offered than in his books. During his bookselling days, McConnell had also noticed that many of his female customers were isolated at home while their husbands went off to work. So he purposely recruited female sales Representatives. McConnell believed they had a natural ability to network with and market to other women, and a passion for his products. At a time of limited employment options for women, the Avon earnings opportunity was a revolutionary concept and still is.
From 1886 – till date, the companies has stood for Women and has done complete justice to its tagline – The Company for Women!
It was our first time at such an enthralling convention, not only did we woman cheer in joy but also their better halves, jumped in the air when there wives’ names were announced for awards. We want to share some emotions that we captured from the convention:
As you must have seen in the photos, Avon highlighted those women in its Stars Convention 2014 night who are controlling their own destiny, being self dependant and inspiring the future generation of women leaders and entrepreneurs. Avon is one brand which has gone the extra mile by helping to empower thousands of women around the world giving them increased hope, increased dignity and increased opportunity for a better living.
Avon Stars Convention 2014 night was a night of triumph, joy, glamour & entertainment. Women from all over India were a part of this major event. Avon facilitated various women for their hard work in promoting the product. Bollywood Diva, Asin also graced the occasion with her presence and motivated all the women who were present there. It was commendable that Mr. Ujjwal Mukhopadhyay, Managing Director and Mr. Rahul Shanker, Director Sales, Avon India were personally felicitating each and every Avon representative at the Avon Stars Convention 2014. Mostly the corporate honchos are great bosses but hardly great leaders but both Mr. Mukhopadhyay and Mr. Shanker led from the front.
Kudos to Avon for encouraging women empowerment and making the weaker sex the strongest one!
