Realme has recently launched its first budget-oriented smartphone of 2022, the Realme 9i. The Realme 9i is a successor of the very popular Realme 8i that was launched in India in September last year. We have already reviewed the device and you can read our unbiased review of the Realme 9i by clicking here. In this article, we will be sharing with you the Realme 9i Pros and Cons. Let’s have a look at them.
Realme 9i Pros and Cons
PROS
Attractive Design: The new Realme 9i boasts an attractive design. This budget smartphone shares its design cues with the Realme GT Neo 2 and feels premium to hold. Moreover, it is offered in two colours:- Prism Black and Prism Blue, and both of them look eye-catching.
Decent Performance: Realme 9i is India’s first smartphone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor. While Realme is marketing it as ‘Next Level Power’, it is more of a power-efficient SoC that does its job really well. The chipset is based on 6nm architecture and has a clock speed of up to 2.4Ghz.
Good Stereo Speakers: One of the very few advantages of the Realme 9i over the Realme 8i is the inclusion of stereo speakers. The new Realme 9i gets good quality stereo speakers that are perfectly loud with clear vocals but the bass distorts on higher volumes.
Excellent Battery Life: The Realme 9i is offered with a 5000 mAh battery which offers an excellent battery life. In our test, it managed to deliver a day and a half with ease. In addition, it gets a 33W fast charger which is adequately quick to juice it up.
CONS
Downgraded Display: The Realme 9i packs a 6.6 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080×2412 pixels, the same as the Realme 8i. However, it gets a 90 Hz refresh rate and 480 nits of peak brightness unlike the 120 Hz refresh rate and 600 nits of its predecessor.
Average Cameras: Realme 9i is offered with a 50 MP primary rear camera along with a 2 MP macro sensor and 2 MP Black & White sensor. The camera performance of the Realme 9i is average at best. Moreover, it doesn’t even get an ultra-wide-angle sensor which most of its rivals offer.
No 5G Connectivity: The new Realme 9i is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC and so it doesn’t get 5G connectivity. Some of its rivals at the same price point do offer 5G.
Seems Overpriced: The Realme 9i has been launched in India at Rs 13,999 for the 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant while the 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variant has been priced at Rs 15,999. At this price point, the Realme 9i does seem to be overpriced.
