Commenting on this a Google spokesperson also said, “We are aware of an issue with WebView causing some apps on Android to crash. We are currently working to fully validate the scope and a fix is in progress.”
This bug is impacting most of the Pixel devices, as all Android apps that use the WebView system component, are responsible for showing web content. They eventually are updated alongside Chrome every few weeks, and this is the reason why they keep crashing. The apps that have these issues, include Gmail and many other third-party applications too.
To fix this issue follow these steps:-
- Launch the Google Play Store App on your phone.
- Search for Android System Webview app by Google
- Click on the app and there would be an option to update the app
- Click on update the app
And this should fix this issue. If it’s still crashing, then the best solution would be to either restart the phone once or uninstall and re-install the app and your problem should be fixed.
