At CES 2021, Lenovo has unveiled a bunch of new laptops that utilise AMD’s next-generation mobile Ryzen processors, including four new gaming laptops under the Legion product line namely the Legion 7, Legion Slim 7, Legion 5 Pro, and the Legion 5.
Lenovo Legion’s new 2021 laptops are amongst the first to feature the next-gen AMD Ryzen 5000 H-series Mobile Processors. Users can now experience the ultimate gaming performance with the latest NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 3000 Series Laptop GPUs for gamers and creators. Supercharged with Ray Tracing Cores, Tensor Cores and streaming multiprocessors, the new Legion lineup delivers the most realistic ray-traced graphics ever, cutting-edge new features, and the power of artificial intelligence.
The Legion 7 and Legion 5 Pro, feature the world’s first 16” QHD (2560 x 1600 pixels) IPS display that offers 11% more screen estate compared to conventional 15.6” displays. The laptops boast a 16:10 aspect ratio, blazing 165Hz refresh rates and 3ms response time with NVIDIA® G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync™ support along with with100% sRGB colour gamut, Dolby® Vision and VESA Display HDR 400 support.

Coldfront 3.0 thermal management system brings an intelligent intake system that features turbo-charged dual-fans and quad-channel exhausts with vapour chamber technology (selected models), the Legion laptops now move higher volumes of air through components to dissipate heat rapidly. This massive cooling process is further enhanced with the use of highly efficient thermal conduction materials. Multiple thermal sensors also predict your system’s thermal curve to help avoid throttling. In addition, you can instantly control the fan speed and voltage by pressing Function + Q key for maximum, Intelligent (AI) or silent power modes.
Lenovo Legion’s Harman® speakers are now optimized with Nahimic Audio. Designed for gamers, Nahimic brings immersive 360-degree audio with features like Night Mode with smart volume reduction, and Sound Tracker that visually points out a sound’s source and direction in a game. Nahimic also provides background noise suppression for crystal clear voice chats. You can stream audio from your PC to two gaming headsets with new Sound Sharing feature without using audio adapters, and with BT Link feature, you can add Bluetooth speakers to create a surround sound field.
An evolution descended from the ThinkPad keyboards; the Legion TrueStrike Keyboard features innovative soft-landing switches that deliver deeper strokes with equal force on every strike. Lenovo Vantage is an onboard software that allows you to optimize your Legion’s settings and personalize your experience. With the new Vantage Smart Performance Services self-diagnostic feature, Vantage can reduce PC downtime by scanning, detecting and removing spyware, malware and adware, fix network and access issues, and automatically tune up the PC.
Lenovo Legion 7
The Lenovo Legion 7 laptop is made with aerospace-grade aluminium, sports the latest mobile processors for PC gamers – up to the latest AMD Ryzen 9 5900H Mobile Processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPUs. It comes with the new 16” 165Hz IPS display with 16:10 aspect ratio, 2560 x 1600 resolution, NVIDIA® G-SYNC™, 100 per cent sRGB colour accuracy, 90% screen-to-body ratio, 11% more screen estate (vs conventional 15.6” screens), and Dolby Vision. There’s the Lenovo Legion AI Engine, the Legion TrueStrike Keyboard, Coldfront 3.0 thermal management system, Nahimic Audio, a 720p integrated webcam with E-shutter which allows you to cut off power to the webcam and prevent camera hacking with the switch located on the side of the laptop.
Additionally, Lenovo offers the Wi-Fi 6 Killer AX1650 brings ultra-fast wireless connectivity and low latency gaming. Type-C power delivery also brings convenient charging options for non-gaming scenarios. Every Lenovo Legion gaming laptop comes with a free one month of Microsoft Xbox Game Pass for PC, unlocking hundreds of great games for non-stop gaming. The Legion 7 will be available from Q1 2021.
Lenovo Legion Slim 7
The Legion Slim 7 is the successor to the 15” gaming laptop with NVIDIA RTX graphics released in 2020 and now comes with AMD’s latest processors. At under 1.9kg, this is a perfect fit for any boardroom or tournament setting with unbridled performance under its magnesium cum aluminium chassis in the Shadow Black hue. It is powered by up to the latest AMD Ryzen 9 5900H Mobile Processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 with Max-Q Design GPUs.
There’s a 15.6” 144Hz 1080p 100% Adobe RGB or 60hz 4K 100% sRGB IPS display with Dolby Vision. Lenovo’s AI Engine for dynamic CPU and GPU power distribution, Coldfront 3.0 thermal management with multiple sensors and ultra-thin fan fins, Legion TrueStrike Keyboard with soft-landing switches. Lenovo Legion 5 Pro
The Legion 5 Pro offers the same 16” 16:10 QHD display as the Legion 7 and is powered by up to the latest AMD Ryzen 9 5800H Mobile Processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPUs. There’s a 16” 165Hz IPS display with up to 3ms response time, 16:10 aspect ratio, 2560 x 1600 resolution, NVIDIA® G-SYNC™ and AMD FreeSync™ support, 100 per cent sRGB colour accuracy, 90% screen-to-body ratio and Dolby Vision; along with Lenovo’s AI Engine for dynamic CPU and GPU power distribution, Coldfront 3.0 thermal management with multiple sensors and ultra-thin fan fins, Legion TrueStrike Keyboard with soft-landing switches. Nahimic Audio, type-C Power Delivery charging for non-gaming scenarios, a Fingerprint reader integrated into the power button, Webcam with a physical shutter, Lenovo Vantage software and Fn+Q for instant power management and Intel Wi-Fi 6. The laptop will be available starting from Q1 2021.
Lenovo Legion 5
The Legion 5 brings the balance of style and savage power to gamers in 15” or 17” sizes. It will also be available in two hues – Phantom Blue or Stingray White. It is powered by up to the latest AMD Ryzen 9 5800H Mobile Processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPUs. Its top features include: a 15.6” 165Hz IPS display with 1080p resolution,16:9 aspect ratio, up to 100 per cent sRGB colour accuracy and AMD FreeSync™ support, or 17” 144Hz IPS display with 1080p resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, up to 100 per cent sRGB colour accuracy along with Lenovo’s AI Engine for dynamic CPU and GPU power distribution, Coldfront 3.0 thermal management with multiple sensors and ultra-thin fan fins, Legion TrueStrike Keyboard with soft-landing switches. Nahimic Audio, type-C Power Delivery charging for non-gaming scenarios, a Fingerprint reader integrated into the power button, Webcam with an e-shutter (only for the 15” model, the17” model will have a physical shutter cover.), Lenovo Vantage software and Fn+Q for instant power management and Intel Wi-Fi 6 and more. The laptop will be available from Q1 2021.
