Xiaomi has started rolling out the Android 11 Official Update for the Mi A3, while this may seem like good news for Mi A3 users, it is until you hear the sad part. The update is reportedly bricking devices and as a result, users who have updated the device early on, are now having their devices either bricked or stuck in a boot loop.
The new update packs in all the usual Andriod 11 goodies, which includes the addition of Chat Bubbles, improved notification shade, better permission management and tons more. The Mi A3 Android 11 changelog has been mentioned below:
- Improved Notification shade
- Conversation bubbles
- Better permissions management
- Improved DND
Soon after users started complaining and sharing issues on forums, Xiaomi quickly responded with a warning post on Mi Community asking users of Mi A3 to not update to Android 11 if the OTA hits their device. Users who have accepted the OTA and updated their devices are now finding themselves in the unfortunate situation where their phone is not responding at all or is struck in a boot loop.
@XiaomiIndia Today received A11 update to my Mi A3 and after installing it and restarting the device, phone is completely dead. Neither it is charging nor switching on. What the hell is this? My phone is completely dead on new year eve.@XiaomiSupport @manukumarjain

Surprisingly, this isn’t the first case when the company has rolled out an update for the Mi A3, and it has brought issues to the device. Previously, an update has broken dual-SIM functionality, which was later fixed using another OTA.
Hence if you have received the update, we recommend you do not update at the moment, until further notice.
