HMD Global has announced a new smartphone in India today – Nokia 4.2. The Nokia 4.2 is the first smartphone from Nokia under 4 series. The smartphone was initially announced at the MWC 2019 and was listed online last week in India. The smartphone comes with a dedicated Google Assistant Button, a LED notification light around Power Button and is part of the Android One project.
The Nokia 4.2 features a 5.71-inch HD+ 19:9 display with a notch, it is powered by a Quad-core Snapdragon 439 processor, Adreno 505 GPU. It comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB Internal storage, microSD card support up to 400GB. It is running on Android 9.0 Pie and is part of Google’s Android One program, the phone will get at least two Android upgrades and three years of security updates. The Nokia 4.2 is packed with a 3000mAH battery and comes with a fingerprint scanner as well as a rear Biometric Face Unlock feature.
In the camera department, the Nokia 4.2 packs in a 13MP+2MP dual rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, LED flash and an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. Other features of the device include a 3.5mm Audio Jack, Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and micro USB port. One of the unique features of the device is the dedicated Google Assistant button and here is how it works:
- Single Press: Google Assistant button: Access to Google Assistant to get to maps, music, search or make calls
- Double Press: Visual overview of the day with intelligent suggestions and personalized information including important to-do tasks, bill payments, flights to catch or meetings to attend
- Long Press: Will activate Walkie-talkie mode and ensure Google Assistant listens to your long sentence queries until released

The Nokia 4.2 is priced at INR 10,990 and is available on Nokia.com/phones for a 7-day period starting 7th May and it will be available exclusively across select retail outlets and partners like Croma, Reliance, Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C and MyG starting 14th May. Nokia 4.2 will be available pan-India across top mobile retail outlets and Nokia.com/phones starting 21st May.
