Samsung’s next big thing for smartphones is its foldable smartphone – Galaxy Fold. This year at MWC 19 in Barcelona it was all about 5G and foldable smartphones. And with both Samsung and Huawei launching their foldable smartphones most people spent time at their booths trying to catch a glimpse of the products. Unfortunately, both the smartphone makers had protected their foldable smartphones like the Pope and you could only see them through the glass.
Even though I could see both the devices it felt as if they are still in the prototype stage as we were not allowed to touch or feel them. Fast Forward two months and on 15th April Samsung Galaxy Fold is up for pre-order in the US and plethora of unboxing and review videos are up already.
Now to the big news – we have confirmed news from our source that the Samsung Galaxy Fold will launch in India on the 7th of May. Here’s why you should be excited –
The Galaxy Fold has a folding design with two displays — one on the outside and another that’s revealed when you open the device.
The outer display is a 4.6″ HD+ Super AMOLED panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The inner or the main display of the Galaxy Fold is a large 7.3″ QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED canvas with a form factor of 4.2:3.
The HD+ outer display will be mostly used for things like messaging, calling, checking the calendar etc. But when you need to consume media like watching Netflix, read books or do multitasking with 2 or more apps then the main 7.3-inch display, can get up to three apps simultaneously at once.
The Galaxy Fold also comes with the App Continuity feature that lets users switch seamlessly between the 4.6-inch display and the larger 7.3″ display as the apps will automatically open right where you left off when you switch between the displays.
That’s not the only thing to be excited about! As Samsung is also known for its cameras, the Galaxy Fold comes with half a dozen cameras. No Kidding!
- Rear Camera 1 — 16MP Ultra Wide | f/2.2
- Rear Camera 2 — 12MP Wide-Angle | f/1.5 – f/2.4
- Rear Camera 3 — 12MP Telephoto | f/2.4
- Front Camera 1 — 10MP Selfie | f/2.2
- Front Camera 2 — 8MP Depth Sensor | f/1.9
- Cover Camera — 10MP Selfie | f/2.2
That said when Samsung India launches the Galaxy Fold on May 7, it’s going to cost you upwards of INR 1,40,000/-(according to the conversion rate of USD to INR as the selling price in the US is $1980.)
