There is still a couple of hours left to officially wrap up the six-day long Amazon India Great Indian Sale but, the company has already announced that they have recorded their biggest sale in all the categories. Also, half of the Prime members across the country had their orders delivered in 48 hours and All-New Echo Dot sold out within 48 hours of the sale.
Here are some of the key highlights of the Amazon Great Indian Sale 2018
- More than 82% new customers were from smaller towns & cities
- New customers through the Hindi website grew by 2.4X over a normal business day
- Customers from 99% of India’s serviceable pin-codes have already placed an order on Amazon.in in the last four days
- Amazon delivered to customers in far and remote locations like Solan (HP), Pinjore (Haryana), Malda (WB), Angul (Odisha), Havelock (Andamans), Mavelikkara (Kerala), Kotdwara (Uttarakhand), Hapur (UP), Mundra (Gujarat), Tinsukia (Assam) and Dumka (Jharkhand) among others.
- Over 70% of EMI customers who shopped were from Tier 2 & below towns
- EMI purchases grew to 12X over an average business day and 2X over last year, every 2nd iPhone X was sold on EMIs
Amazon Pay
- 3X increase in the Amazon Pay daily active users
- 5X increase in customers using UPI & RuPay
- 1 in every 3 electronic transactions was using Amazon Pay balance
- 5X increase in Prepaid Recharges compared to 2017
- 3.5X more customer bought Amazon gift cards
Amazon Prime
- Prime sign-ups surged almost 3X
- Prime Video had the highest number of weekly streamers ever, in the week of the Amazon Great Indian Festival
Smartphones
- OnePlus 6 and Redmi 6A were the #1 selling premium and affordable smartphones
- Xiaomi phones registered a 200% growth over last year, OnePlus was 100%
- Amazon provided free 1-year screen protection Insurance worth over INR 500 Cr
TV and Large Appliances
- Amazon sold twice as many 32” TVs on Day 1 of the first Great Indian Festival as all of India usually buys in 1 day
- All Xiaomi TVs were sold out on flash sale in less than 10 seconds on Prime Early Access Sale
- Smart TVs saw 200% growth over the first wave of last year’s Great Indian Festival
- Xiaomi was the top-selling brand of Smart TVs
- 50% of customers purchased Large Appliances on EMIs this Great Indian Festival
- Amazon sold more headphones during this event than what the entire industry sells in 60 days
- Sold more Bluetooth Speakers during this event than what the entire industry sells in 45 days
Amazon Devices
- All New Echo Dot were sold out within 2 days of Great Indian Festival Sale
- Fire TV Stick was sold 3X more than what we sold during Wave 1 of Great Indian Festival last year, Fire TV Stick sales were 22X compared to an average business day
- Biggest week for Kindle devices for entire 2018
- Kindle Unlimited annual subscription sold 4X more than usual
- Kindle eBooks on promotion sold 11X more than usual
- The biggest for Alexa-enabled devices that included devices from INR 699 to 79,999 across different form factors like headphones and speakers
- sold 20 times more than an average business day with Bose QC35 being the top-selling product
