Vivo Nex

Vivo Nex, aptly named Nex signifies the NEXt generation of smartphones.

This is the phone that one would expect Apple to launch to mark their 10th anniversary. Vivo Nex’s futuristic engineering and a mesmerizing notch-free screen is a benchmark for other phones, including the iPhone X.

And to achieve that magical seamless display, VIVO had to accommodate the following parts –

  1. Front Camera
  2. Ear Piece/ Speaker Grill
  3. Proximity Sensor
  4. Ambient Sensor
  5. Fingerprint Scanner

It starts with a bezel-less 6.59-inch Super AMOLED display featuring a full HD+ resolution of 2,136×1,080 pixels. There’s no front speaker grill, no sensor, no nothing which gives it a clean, nothing-but-screen look. The fingerprint reader is integrated into the screen, and the most powerful smartphone silicon Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor powers the phone.

You have to see the phone in real to believe how gorgeous the display on this one is. With more than 91% screen-to-body ratio, you get nothing but screen up front and that’s a head turner.

But, its Display is not the real showstopper, instead, it’s the front/selfie camera that is the crowd-puller and makes everyone go WOW!

The WOW factor of the phone, its 8-megapixel selfie camera lives inside the phone body and pops up when you take a selfie. It’s an elevating camera mechanism which is sturdy and has been tested in various ways. The company also claims that it can elevate more than 50,000 times which should easily last you two years or longer. In terms of the build quality, it is top notch and I claim that after dropping the device once and force stopping the elevating camera multiple times.

NEXt on the list is the under-screen fingerprint sensor which we saw on the Vivo X21, the world’s smartphone with an In-glass fingerprint sensor. But this time Vivo has used the 3rd generation of the sensor making it faster and more accurate.

Lastly, to give us the all-screen experience aka the most futuristic smartphone experience, Vivo took away the Nex’s front-firing speakers. Instead, it uses the screen as a speaker when you’re taking calls through the use of a linear vibrator, which works like bone conduction and transmits the sound to the frame of the phone that’s relayed through the screen. So, it doesn’t matter which part of the screen you put your ear, you will hear the same quality of sound.
