Samsung Galaxy S9

One of the much-awaited flagship smartphone(s) of the year from Samsung’s Galaxy lineup was announced at MWC today, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Samsung Galaxy S9+. Both the smartphones are almost identical to the previous gen Galaxy S8 and S8+ with some changes happening in processor and camera department.

The Galaxy S9 comes with a 5.8-inch display and S9+ with a 6.2-inch display. Both the smartphones come with a QHD+ display with the resolution of 2960*1440 bezel-less super AMOLED panel up front. They are powered by Snapdragon 845 Processor and are coupled with Adreno 540 GPU or Exynos 9810 depending on the region you get them. The S9 comes with 4GB RAM and the S9+ comes with 6GB RAM, both of them come in 64GB/128GB and 256GB storage options with microSD card support up to 256GB. The Galaxy S9 comes with 3000mAh battery and S9+ with 3500mAh battery, along with Quick Charge and Wireless charging technology.

They are running on Android Noug8.0 Oreo.  Other features of the devices include Dual band wifi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, Samsung Pay, USB type-c port, 3.5mm audio jack, face recognition, Fingerprint scanner at the rear which is pretty much accessible compared to the S8/S8+. Also, they come with Bixby Assistant with a dedicated button on the left. In the camera department, the S9 comes with a 12MP rear camera with dual pixel sensor with f/2.4-f/1.5 variable aperture, which is first for a smartphone camera. The camera can also record 480fps slo-mo videos at Full HD resolution. The S9+ sports a dual 12MP camera with f/2.4-f/1.5 variable aperture, LED Flash, 960fps super slo-mo, the secondary rear camera with f/2.4 aperture. These smartphones also have stereo speakers powered by AKG and support Dolby Atmos. It also has AR Emoji, which uses machine learning to analyze and create a 3D model that reflects and imitates expressions.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ come in Midnight Black, Titanium Gray, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple colors are priced at $719.99 (INR 46,590 approx.) and $839.99 (INR 54,350 approx.), respectively in the U.S, will be available starting March 16, 2018. Samsung has already started pre-bookings for these smartphones in India on Flipkart.
