Google has just announced the second generation of Pixel devices, Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Both the smartphones come with the same set of specifications and features except for the screen size, resolution and battery. These Google smartphones focus on 3 major components, Artificial Intelligence, Hardware, and Software.
The Google Pixel 2 comes with a 5-inch Full HD OLED display with Full-HD resolution, the Pixel 2 XL comes with a 6-inch QHD+ (2880 x 1440) pOLED display. Both the smartphones are covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top of the display. They are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.35GHz and is coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. The Pixel 2 is packed with 2,700mAh battery and the Pixel 3,520mAh battery, also they come with Quick Charge support that can deliver Up to 7 hours of go with 15 minutes of charge.
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL comes with 4GB RAM and either 64GB or 128GB storage options with no microSD card support. Also, these smartphones will come with unlimited storage for photos and videos in high res and 4K. Coming to the camera part, the pixel’s come with a 12.2MP rear camera with 1.4μm pixel size, Autofocus with laser + dual pixel phase detection, OIS+EIS, f/1.8 aperture and up to 4K video recording. Also, the rear camera is capable of taking pictures in Portrait mode, thanks to Google’s Machine Learning. There is an 8MP selfie shooter at the front with f/2.4 aperture and also support for Portrait mode and Motion photos, which will capture a 3-second video along with the picture. The camera also comes with support for Google’s AR Core, which will enable Augmented Reality on the smartphones and give a whole new experience. And finally, the rear camera of these devices have achieved a score of 98 on DXOMark, which is the best till date on any smartphone camera.
The Active Edge feature enables users to Squeeze the smartphone to launch the Google assistant. It comes with only one port, the USB Type-C and has said goodbye to 3.5mm Headphone jack. Other features include Stereo front-firing speakers, Bluetooth 5.0 + LE, Wireless HD audio with LDAC, Qualcomm AptX and AptX HD audio codecs support, 3 mics. Google Pixel 2 comes in Kinda blue, just black, clearly white colors and is available at $649 for 64GB and &749 for 128GB variant. The Google Pixel 2 XL comes in just black and Black and White colors and is available at $749 for 64GB and $849 for 128GB variant.
