In order to encourage participation in the Ministry of Urban Development’s annual Cleanliness Survey, Swachh Survekshan 2017, Uber will send out emails to riders across 28 cities enabling them to participate in the survey en-route an Uber ride or after.
Uber supports the Swachh Bharat Mission and also encourages its riders to maintain cleanliness in every Uber that they take. To reinforce its commitment to Swachh Bharat Mission, Uber will now provide a platform to its riders across the below-mentioned cities to actively participate in Swachh Survekshan 2017 and rank their respective cities on the laid parameters.
The 28 cities where Uber riders will receive the Swachh Survekshan emails include: Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Indore, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mangalore, Mumbai, Mysuru, Nagpur, Nashik, New Delhi, Pune, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Vadodara and Visakhapatnam.
In 2016, Ministry of Urban Development under the guidance of Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development, Government of India initiated the first ever Swachh Survekshan encouraging citizens across 73 cities to evaluate their respective cities on cleanliness standards. As an outcome of the survey, Mysuru, Chandigarh and Tiruchirapalli emerged as the cleanest cities in India.
In a bid to scale up the coverage of the ranking exercise and encourage towns and cities to actively implement mission initiatives in a timely and innovative manner, MoUD now proposes to conduct its second survey to rank 500 cities (with a population of 1 lakh and above) under Swachh Bharat Mission till February 28, 2017. Citizens will now be able to participate in the survey on the go.
Speaking on the initiative, Shweta Rajpal Kohli, Head of Public Policy, Uber India & South Asia said, “Uber believes in celebrating our cities by helping solve some of the most complex challenges faced by them today. Our commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission is testament to our efforts in shaping the future of our cities and we see value in encouraging our riders to participate in the journey to a cleaner India. Swachh Survekshan empowers citizens to evaluate the work done in this direction and we hope to see maximum participation from our riders in this important exercise.”
