The search for the perfect headphones is a lot like searching for the right shoes. They need to fit. They need to serve their purpose well (like running shoes). Most of the times, they will also need to look good (like a black pair of patent heels). If you happen to be an audiophile, your list of conditions will be even longer than this and hunt for the best pair of headphones to invest your money in is going to be a lot more difficult than looking for the best pair of comfortable heels for your cousin’s wedding. Today we’re going to be talking about one worthy contender in the league of headphones: Skullcandy’s Hesh 2 Wireless Edition and we’ll tell you how it fares.
This particular pair of headphones is considered one of the more affordable ones in the wireless category of headphones and is available for a little over Rs. 10,000 in India. The Hesh 2 Wireless was first released in 2015, so it’s not new anymore. It comes in a few colours like black, black and silver, white and gold, and camouflage. Though Skullcandy is reputed for their quirky designs, this one is not one of them, except for perhaps, the camouflage ones. The overall design of the Hesh 2 Wireless is actually basic, with rather large earpieces that do little to accentuate your look unless you’re going for the chunky-sound-geek look. That said, the design works well ergonomically, though. Skullcandy markets this device as one which you could wear for hours. Those hours do get kind of interrupted by the 15-hour battery life of the device, but that is not too terrible actually, for a Bluetooth device. It’s not the most comfortable pair in the world, but it’s comfortable enough for daily heavy-duty use, and it will not cause an earache in half an hour.
Sound wise, it packs a pretty decent performance, and it will not destroy your music. The bass is rich and full, and it does a good job of retaining all the notes with minimum distortion. Audiophiles may have a problem with the way it tends to sculpt sound sometimes. It connects well with any Bluetooth device and also comes with a cable for wired listening also. The wired listening obviously works better than the wireless, but the sound quality is still pretty good via Bluetooth. The headphones have noise reduction for a distraction-less listening experience, and the controls are easy to find and operate.

Our final verdict for this pair is that it is a good enough Bluetooth headset for its price, especially if you’re comparing it with the more expensive ones. If you’re not too finicky about your sound, you’ll be quite satisfied with this pair. These headphones do sound good, but they have some flaws.
- They’re a little tight and start to become a bit uncomfortable after 1 1/2 hours. The lack of cushioning on the headbar is painful.
- The ear pads cutouts are small. I can tuck the lower part of my ear inside though so I can live with it.
- The power button lights up blue to let you know it’s got a Bluetooth connection but the light is bright! Keep people from sleeping next to you bright.
- And 4) the mini USB charging port is on the upper portion of the ear pad. I assume it was put there to keep it out of sight and from getting dirty but it’s very difficult to plug in.
If you’re the type, who would obsess over how the song sounds good but not as real as you’d like then you’d probably be better off investing your money in a non-wireless device by a higher end brand.
