Honor 8 with its dual lens camera (its two eyes) not only captures great photos for you through its eyes but also ensures all eyes are on you, thanks to its unique design.
Honor 8, Huawei Honor’s latest flagship release has been marketed as a camera phone by the company, with its USP being the dual lens camera. This is similar to Huawei’s release earlier this year, the much celebrated P9 which is what Honor 8 lives up to camera wise and performance wise as well. But what we will be talking about today is the style quotient of the phone, and that is where Huawei has done a brilliant job with the Honor 8.
Honor 8 is undoubtedly the sexiest android smartphone I’ve ever held in my hands. And, I try out a dozen phones a week so you can really take my word for it.
The Honor 8 marks the departing from the familiar metal build phones that you see almost all the other smartphone makers are sticking to. It is made of two sheets of glass with a metal (aluminium) frame and this is where all the beauty of this phone lies. What caught my eye when I first looked at it were its colours. The white version of the phone seems unassuming at first but when you look at it closely, you will be quite captivated by its iridescent features, quite fitting its name (Pearl White). The metal frame that holds the two very smoothly rounded off sheets of glass is also a fine piece of work with it’s very elegant and subtle pale gold tones, which is refreshing from the usual white and silver combination I am used to. What I really want to talk about though is its glass back.
This feature of the phone is it’s most striking. It is made up of 15 layers of light-catching glass, which means that the back of the phone has reflective properties like no other phone in the market today, a feature that makes it appear so stunning, photos can’t quite capture it. Especially in the darker variants of the phone. This means that this is one phone you will not want to hide in a case. It feels like that too, with its perfectly smooth edges and flat surfaces. Surprisingly, Honor has managed to fit the dual camera and the flash into a perfectly flat back and their super-cool fingerprint sensor which conveniently doubles up as a customizable shortcut button to anything you want.
Size wise, the phone has done pretty well too. It’s on the smaller side, with a 5.2-inch display and a thickness of only 7.1 cms. This phone size makes it perfect for single-handed operation as it fits comfortably and is comparatively easy to use in just one hand.
The bottom line is that I really like the phone for the feel of a really expensive phone at a not so expensive price (the Honor 8 is available in India for Rs. 29,999) thanks to all the reflective glass and the shiny metal bits and the really polished edges that it has. It’s a phone I’d happily flaunt, especially the Sapphire Blue one that I have, it’s a striking one. If you don’t have an Honor 8 you don’t have the sexiest phone ever.
Who doesn’t want a phone with 50 shades of white or blue? 😉
