Google this year took really a different approach and had a preview program of their upcoming version of Android and had a successful run of Preview/Beta program. Now finally after all those beta versions, Android Nougat 7.0 is officially listed on the site. The Nexus devices and Android One devices will start getting the updates from today.
Google says the over-the-air update to Android Nougat will go out to the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One) as part of a staged rollout over the coming week, while only a few Nexus owners will receive the OTA from today of course if you don’t want to wait, you’ll be able to manually update by flashing a system image later.
Major changes in Android Nougat 7.0
- Use of Vulkan API to improve graphics performance.
- Added JIT(Just In Time) compiler so that 75% apps installs are faster.
- File based encryption.
- Seamless update, Direct Boot (No Android is starting Dialog box anymore).
- Much needed Clear All button at the top.
- Quick switch to previous app by tapping recent button twice.
- Multi window and Picture in Picture(TV’s)
- Direct reply from notifications.
- Unicode 9 Emoji’s with Women profession emoji’s.

Also, the Official site states that the first device to launch with Android Nougat out of the box will be the LG V20. More details on the same will be revealed soon. Now that the Android Nougat 7.0 is officially announced, we should be getting the updates really soon on our devices.
