Samsung hosted its annual 2 day meet the ‘Samsung Forum 2016’ on Feb 4th & 5th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As expected, Samsung launched and showcased plethora of new products. To read about what all launched read our post on the highlights of ‘Samsung Forum 2016’.
In this post we will be sharing details of the two new smartphones that Samsung added in its arsenal. Both these devices are up for pre-booking on Samsung official online store (Click to pre-order) and delivery starts from 17th Feb onwards. All pre-booking orders are eligible for one free screen replacement within 12 months.
Arrival of Samsung A5 and A7(2016)
The successors of last year’s popular smartphones A5 & A7 were announced at the Samsung Forum 2016. Both smartphones have a flagship like build with glass and metal body. Thanks to that these mid-range devices look and feel very premium. Both the smartphones have a Full HD display with super AMOLED screen. The A5(2016) is 5.2” and the A7(2016) is a 5.5” device in terms of display size. Both devices are powered by Samsung’s own Exynos Octa-core processors clocked at 1.6Ghz.
The A5 (2016) comes with a 2GB RAM & 16GB flash storage which can be further expanded via MicroSD card upto 128GB. It also has 2 nano sim tray which supports 4G (VoLTE) in India. It packs a 2900mAh battery with fast charging capability.
The more premium A7 comes with 3GB RAM & 16GB onboard storage which can be further expanded via MicorSD card upto 128GB.It is packed with 3300mAh battery with fast charging support. It supports 4G and has 2 nano sim slots.
Coming to optics, both the devices have a f/1.9 aperture, 13MP rear camera with OIS and a 5MP front facing camera. Both smartphones have Fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button just like Samsung flagship devices.

Accelerometer, Proximity, Geo-magnetic, RGB Light sensor, Hall Sensor are present on both devices along with BT 4.1 & WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n. To enable fast payments, the devices are also equipped with NFC.
The A5 is 7.3mm thin and weighs 153gm, whereas the A7 is 7.3mm thin and weighs 169gm. The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) is priced at INR 33,400 while Galaxy A5 (2016) is available at an attractive price of INR 29,400. Both the models are available in 3 attractive colours- Gold, Black & White. Both will be available from 15th Feb on Snapdeal and other offline stores.
