And when then day (10th June 2015) finally came today, the Elife E8 has already been introduced by Romanian company Allview. The latter is known for its integration of Chinese hardware into Romania, and apparently got a head start with the Gionee model.
The Allview X2 Xtreme is an OEM Romanian version of the Gionee Elife E8. It is the same exact phone with a different manufacturer’s name branded on it. Priced at the equivalent of $554 USD, the X2 Xtreme/Elife E8 features a 6-inch, 1440 x 2560 resolution screen.
Under the hood, it gets the 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 SoC featuring a true octa-core 2GHz CPU with the IMG G620 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of on-board storage. A capacity microSD slot (supporting up to 128GB ) is available to expand the storage capacity.
The 23MP rear camera takes 4K video, and there is an 8MP camera on front for selfies and video chats. A fingerprint scanner is on back of the unit, which is powered by a 3500mAh battery. The Gionee Elife E8/Allview X2 Xtreme is 9.6mm thick, and has Amigo UI/UX based on Android Lollipop.
The Allview version of the phone will be released in Romania on August 15th. As Gionee is unveiling the Elife E8 today, we should see it in India soon.
