Sony India today announced the launch of a pioneering technology for all those who take music seriously and savor real high definition sound with its state-of-the-art MDR Z7 headphones and high resolution amplifier PHA-3. The headphones are crafted to provide the audiophiles an ultimate music experience by reproducing crystal clear notes of high resolution audio content, which brings the listener closer to the spirit and soul of the artist’s original performance – just as you’d hear it on stage or in the recording studio.

High Resolution Audio

High Resolution Audio is typically an audio format that has a sampling rate of 96 KHz/ 24 bit and can reproduce very close to original sound as recorded in a studio or concert hall. With high resolution audio, listener can experience fine details of audio like artist’s breath, subtlety, depth, pressure, expression or concert hall atmosphere. Better frequency sampling rate and high bit rate makes the playback audio very close to the original audio track while a CD recording cannot capture and playback the fine details of the original audio source.  Popular high resolution audio formats are FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF and DSD (Xperia Z3 series supports FLAC and WAV formats of high resolution audio).

MDR Z7 High-Resolution Headphones

The MDR Z7 headphones are designed with freshly-developed 70mm HD driver unit that completely envelops the listener’s ear, revealing every music nuance with startling integrity – from powerful sub-bass lows to crystalline highs. It captures critical high frequencies that are faithfully reproduced right up to 100 kHz providing a new dimension to music expression and a sensation of “Feel the air” in High-Resolution Audio.

The audio characteristics of the MDR-Z7 give an immense feeling of space to the listener. This spaciousness allows a much greater 3D listening experience. The MDR Z7 has special inward axis structure for maximum wearing stability.

Sony has made it possible to enjoy music at an overwhelmingly higher sound quality by integrating all of its unique audio technologies to deliver sounds that music artists would have intended to convey. Whether the listener is enjoying a string quartet or crunching rock, the MDR Z7 delivers out of the world audio to listener’s ear owing to its refined engineering combined with PHA-3 sound amplifier. When connected with MDR-Z7, PHA-3 establishes a unique balanced connection circuit in which the left and right channel signals are transmitted separately to MDR-Z7.Thanks to this unique signal transmission there is a minimal cross talk in the output hi-res audio signals resulting crystal clear sound output from MDR-Z7.

As compared to normal headphone cable, MDR-Z7 has special silver-coated OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) cable that reduces signal transmission loss.

PHA-3 – High-Resolution Sound Amplifier

The PHA-3 is the latest state of the art High Resolution audio amplifier specially developed by Sony for enjoying Hi-Res Audio content. It takes the high resolution audio input signals from the source and further enhances them to deliver soul shaking sound quality. The PHA-3 also helps in reducing the cross talk that leads to less mixture of sound resulting in crystal clear sound output. Thanks to the DSEE HX technology, when connected to the compatible smartphones, laptop and Walkman, the PHA-3 can upscale and refine the sound quality of any music that can be enjoyed with headphones.
