BB Q10 has the best of both worlds the latest BBOS and the physical keyboard that QWERTY user longs for. But what killed the device was its price, In the age of iPhone’s and Galaxy’s people prefer a BB as an alternate device and not as a primary device. Hence, spending above 40K on a company that is finding it hard to survive and then paying for the monthly package to avail the BB services was too much to ask for.
We loved both the BB10 devices Z10 (Read review) and Q10 sans the exuberant pricing. But yesterday, BlackBerry took a bold step (no it didn’t launch another Bold device) by launching the BlackBerry Q5.
The specs of Q5 is what makes it differ as physically it resembles big brother Q10 with a 3.1-inch 720×720 pixel display sporting a pixel density of 328ppi, 2GB of RAM and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera capable of shooting 720p videos. To keep it almost half the price of Q10, the processor is replaced with 1.2GHz dual-core processor instead of a 1.5GHz processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera instead of 8-megapixels and 8GB of internal storage instead of 16GB.
But you can easily differentiate between Q10 and Q5 as soon as you hold it in your hand and thanks to the build quality. The Q10′s premium finish and built are replaced by plastic. The Q10 is a natural upgrade for Bold 9900 users while the Q5 would be perfect for the young curve users as it comes in peppy red, white and black colour.
The phone will be available from July 20 onwards for Rs. 24, 990/-
